The final stage in the Squirtle evolution, Blastoise have a tough shell that conceals two high-pressure cannons capable of shooting hundreds of gallons of water per minute.

The evolutionary successor to Charmander, Charmeleon have a flaming tail that easily defeats Ice-type Pokmon but proves ineffective against Water-type Pokmon. Over time, Charmeleon will evolve into Charizard.

A transitional Pokmon,

Bulbasaur are a combination of Grass-type and Poison-type Pokmon. Because they are Grass-type Pokmon, Bulbasaur have plant-like characteristics such as the large, leafy growth on their back. Over time, Bulbasaur will evolve into Ivysaur and Venusaur.

Kakuna are nearly incapable of movement and have no attacking abilities. Their only defense is to harden their protective shell to fend off antagonists.

Commonly found in fields and rocky areas, Geodude usually don't move unless they're disturbed, and they're often mistaken for a rock or boulder. At level 25, Geodude evolve into Graveler.

When Charmeleon reach level 36, they evolve into this Pokmon, the majestic Charizard.

Cloyster treats combat more seriously than Shellder, using its Spike cannon attack to hit its target up to five times in a row.

Cubone use the bones of other Pokmon to fashion crude weapons and armor, including clubs and boomerangs that they wield with deadly efficiency. At level 28, Cubone evolve into Marowak.

Most of Dragonair's abilities, like Wrap, Agility, Slam and Dragon Rage take advantage of its long sinewy body.

It's likely that many fairy-tale dragons were inspired by this winged beast's ancient kin.

Eevee don't evolve on their own, but trainers can use special stones to transform Eevee into three different kinds of Pokmon. The Water Stone changes Eevee into Vaporeon, a Water-type Pokmon; the Thunder Stone converts Eevee into the Electric-type Jolteon; and the Fire Stone transforms Eevee into Flareon.

Like most Pokmon of its type, Electabuzz is drawn to strong sources of electricity, and the Power Plant is the only place you can find one.

Use the Fire Stone to change Eevee into Flareon. This Pokmon's Fire-type powers are a force to be reckoned with.

No Pokmon have an advantage over these ghost-like Pokmon, making them valuable assets to a Pokmon collection. Over time, Gastly evolve into Haunter and Gengar.

Using its stomach pouch, Kangaskahn carries its young everywhere, even into battle. This makes combat more dangerous, not less.

Over time, Onix's faceted skin becomes as black as coal but as hard as a diamond. It is certainly an imposing sight in battle!

These mouse-like creatures are among the most sought-after Pokmon. Trainers often have a hard time keeping several Pikachu in one place, however, because a high concentration of Pikachu will trigger electrical disturbances in the atmosphere. With enough combat experience, Pikachu evolve into Raichu.

Few Pokmon evolve from a single-type to a dual-type creature. Gyarados is a rare example of this phenomenon.

Pinsir relies solely on its great strength and powerful pincers to overwhelm its foes.

The Thunder Stone transforms Eevee into the hair-raising Pokmon called Jolteon. Another Electric-type Pokmon would come in handy

This frightening Pokmon seems to have just as much in common with dinosaurs as with bugs. The razor edges on its wings make its Slash attack that much more damaging.

Rhyhorn's bones are one thousand times denser than a human's, giving it incredible physical power and endurance.

This frightening Pokmon seems to have just as much in common with dinosaurs as with bugs. The razor edges on its wings make its Slash attack that much more damaging.

At level 32, Horsea's feathery water wings become Seadra's spiked fins, capable of piercing almost any opponent's skin.

An Arctic-dwelling type of Pokmon, Seel fight antagonists with their Aurora Beams, which cause damage by decreasing an opponent's power. At level 34, Seel evolve into Dewgong

Spearow resemble the mild-mannered Pidgey, but they have a more ferocious temperament. If the two face each other in battle, Spearow usually have the upper wing. At level 20, Spearow evolve into Fearow.

To say that Tauros is bullish in battle is no understatement. With its fiery temper and willful personality, Tauros can be a handfull for even the most skilled trainer.

Tentacool like to float in the warm, shallow waters around Pallet Town, Viridian City, and routes 12, 13, 17, and 18. Inattentive trainers often fall victim to their acidic sting, and Tentacool will evolve into Tentacruel at level 30.

The Water Stone changes Eevee into Vaporeon, a Water-type Pokmon. The Leaf Stone and Moon Stone don't affect it.

The final stage of the Bulbasaur evolution, Venusaur are ? like their predecessors ? Grass and Poison Pokmon. This makes it hard to predict how Venusaur will fare in combat, but they are one of the most useful and versatile Pokmon around.

Voltorb use a Screech attack to lower their opponents' defense rating before launching an electrical assault. If the odds are against a Voltorb, it may self-destruct to avoid capture. These Pokmon evolve into Electrode.

While most Pokmon belong to a single category or type, Weedle feature the combined characteristics of a Bug-type and Poison-type Pokmon. Weedle have only two attack strategies, but their sting is poisonous and their String-Shot attack can temporarily reduce an enemy's speed. Weedle evolve into Kakuna and eventually into Beedrill. Found in both versions, these Pokmon are rare in the Blue one.

Zapdos has a unique and powerful combination of Electric-type and Flying-type characteristics. Approach it at your own risk!

Zubat have no eyes so they rely on sophisticated radar systems to navigate through their residence ? the dark depths of Mt. Moon. In battle, their Leech Life attack strategy will drain and steal an opponent's energy, and over time Zubat evolve into Golbat.
